Tom Sweatman Wins Pro Late Model Main Event

South Sound Speedway on Saturday May 20, 2023 was full of excitement with five classes on hand D & S Light Truck and Auto Pro Late Models, 13 cars for 50-laps, Auto Tech Services Mini Stocks, 9 cars for 30-laps, Hinkle Homes Hobby Stocks, 5 cars for 25-laps, Olympia Overhead Doors Tuners, 22 cars for 27-laps, and NW Focus Midgets, 12 cars for 25-laps.
Pro Late Model Main Event started with Richard Townsend on the pole, and John Boyatt on the outside. After the green flag, turn 2, Kyle Kinzebach, Kayla Petersen, Mike Brooks, and Matt Barrett got together, bringing out caution number 1. Boyatt takes the lead on lap 1. On lap 2, caution number 2 was thrown for someone being stopped on exit of back stretch. Zandar Peters takes the lead on lap 24. On lap 25, turn 4, Trevor Flora and Tom Sweatman spin, bringing out caution number 3. On lap 26, turn 4, Townsend spins, bringing out caution number 4. On lap 27, turn 2, Townsend spins again, bringing out caution number 5. After restarting lap 27, front stretch, Kayla Petersen and Jeff Peterson get together and spin, bringing out caution number 6. Sweatman takes the lead on lap 28. On lap 47, turn 2, Harold Schroder and Barrett get together and spin, bringing out caution number 7. Sweatman goes on to win the Pro Late Model 50-lap Main event, followed by Flora, Peters, Boyatt, and Kayla Petersen to round out the top five.
Tom Sweatman had a fast time of 14.393.
Matt Barrett won the A heat race, and John Boyatt won the B heat race.
Mini Stock Main Event started with Rick Korakis on the pole, and Ryan Macleod on the outside. Korakis takes the lead on lap 1. Charles LaMere takes the lead on lap 2. On lap 8, turn 4, Korakis spins, bringing out caution number 1. Shawn Jones takes the lead on lap 9. On lap 10, turns 1 & 2 Macleod and Korakis get together and spin, bringing out caution number 2. On lap 19, turns 1 & 2, Jones and Macleod get together several times, bringing out caution number 3. Jeff Henderson takes the lead on lap 20 and goes on to win the Mini Stock 30-lap Main event, followed by Ken Legault, Jones, Korakis, and Jesse Boczar to round out the top five.
Shawn Jones had a fast time of 16.369.
Jeff Henderson won the heat race.
Hobby Stock Main Event started with Jeremy Barabe on the pole, and Bryce Tyler on the outside. Barabe takes the lead on lap 1. Tyler takes the lead on lap 18. On lap 23, turn 4, Barabe and Dan Florek get together and spin, bringing out caution number 1. Tyler goes on to win the Hobby Stock 25-lap Main event, followed by JuJu Barbera, Brad Reandeau, Barabe, and Florek to round out the top five.
JuJu Barbera had a fast time of 16.075.
Bryce Tyler won the heat race.
The Tuner Main Event started with Royce Iversen on the pole, and Ron Schlund Jr. on the outside. Schlund Jr. takes the lead on lap 1. Iversen takes the lead on lap 2. Schlund Jr. re-takes the lead on lap 3. Ron Schlund Sr. takes the lead on lap 4. Iversen and Schlund Jr., switch the lead back and forth until Charles Lamere takes the lead on lap 14. Schlund Jr. broke out on lap 15 and 17, putting him two laps down. Zach Wisely takes the lead on lap 21. Schlund Sr. broke out on lap 22, putting him a lap down. Richard Woolverton takes the lead on lap 23. On lap 23, the back stretch, the leaders Woolverton and Artie Champ get together, they go spinning and Artie hit the big tire at Pit Exit, bringing out caution number 1 and a red flag. On the red flag, nine cars got black flagged for not stopping when red flag and light were displayed. Chris Branon takes the lead on lap 24. Joe Champ takes the lead on lap 25. Charles Lamere broke out on lap 26. AJ Yocom takes the lead on lap 26 and goes on to win the Tuners 27-lap Main event, followed by Joe Champ, Brad Peterson, Branon, and Charles Meadors to round out the top five.
Charles LaMere won heat #1, Ron Schlund Jr. won heat #2, and Chris Branon won heat #3.
The NW Focus Midget Main event started with Keegan Creager on the pole, and Alex Peck on the outside. Peck takes the lead on lap 1. On lap 9, turn 4, DeDe Shawley and Duane Swanson get together and Shawley ends up on her side, bringing out caution number 1 and a red flag. Caution number 2 was thrown on lap 22 for debris. Nick Evans takes the lead on lap 25 and wins the Focus Midget 25-lap Main event, followed by Peck, Randy Schaaf, Creager, and Tyler West to round out the top five.
Nick Evans had a fast time of 13.911.
Alex Peck won heat #1, and Jason Thomas won heat #2.
