Robert Mears Wins Street Stock Main Event

Racing at South Sound Speedway on Saturday April 12, 2014, was full of excitement with five classes on hand, Top Notch Trailer Street Stock, D&S Light Truck and Auto Mini Stocks, Hinkle Homes Hobby Stocks, Cut Rate Baby Grands, and Stinger8s.
Street Stock event started with newcomer Derek Kynaston on the pole and Carolyn Thomas on the outside. Kynaston takes the lead on lap 1. Cody Erskine leaves the track on Lap 2. Anthony "Ju Ju" Barbera takes the lead on lap 2. Shawn Jones get a mechanical on lap 21 for smoke. On lap 24, turns 3 and 4, Bryan Bykerk spins with help from Robert Mears, both drivers to the back of the pack. On the restart in turn 2, Mike Kanavan spins. On the next restart, turns 1 & 2, Mike Easley spins and slides into Mike Carlson. Carlson leaves the track due to body damage. On Lap 34, caution for Oil on the track, Easley leaves the track. On lap 40, Kynaston gets mechanical for flat tire. On lap 47, Mears takes the lead and goes on to win the 50 lap Street Stock Main event, followed by Bykerk, Barbera, Kanavan, and Thomas to round out the top 5.
Easley had fast time for the night with 14.756, new track record.
Mini Stock Main event started with Kevin Pegg on the pole and Jeff Bracale on the outside. After the green on the front stretch Kyle Matthews slows to a dead stop. Bracale takes the lead on lap 1. Josh McMillan takes the lead on lap 4. Dennis Shaffer takes the lead on lap 14. On lap 25, turn 4, John Morse spins. On the restart, turn 4, Reggie Gill catches on fire. On the next restart, turn 3, Grant Charneski spins. On lap 27, turn 4, Tina McMillan spins. Shaffer goes on to win the 40 lap Mini Stock Main event, followed by Dylan DeYoung, Scott Maynard, Jon Baglien, and Morse to round out the top 5.
DeYoung had fast time for the night with 15.886
Hobby Stock Main event started with Jason Lohmann on the pole and Dan Walker on the outside. Walker takes the lead on lap 1. Walker goes on to win the 25 lap caution free Hobby Stock Main event, followed by Kelly Foster, Lohmann, Justin Blang and Gary McKay to round out the top 5.
Walker had fast time for the night with 16.064
Baby Grand Main event started with Kenny Wilson on the pole and Corey Boyle on the outside. Boyle takes the lead on lap 1. Brad Crawford takes the lead on lap 9. Brad McCutcheon spins on lap 9. Jim Guinn takes the lead on lap 10. On lap 12, Kenny Wilson spins. On lap 17, Brad Crawford leaves the track. Guinn goes on to win the 20 lap Baby Grand Main event, followed by Bryan Crawford, Corey Boyle, Mike Crawford, and Curt Boyle to round out the top 5.
Bryan Crawford had fast time for the night with 15.152.
Stinger 8 Main event started with Zach Dalrymple on the pole and Dennis Lalander on the outside. Dalrymple takes the lead on lap 1. Chris Branon takes the lead on Lap 3. Branon and goes on to win the 15 lap caution free Stinger 8 Main event, followed by Richard Woolverton, Dalrymple, Kyle Epling, and Aaron Flett to round out the top 5.
