History

The 2015 race season marks the 44th year of auto racing and entertainment at South Sound Speedway. This year is full of exciting racing, mixed with some new fun ideas, and a new full time class. Our goal is to bring you a fun filled action packed show every night this season.

As we race into the 2015 season several new faces as well as many familiar ones will appear. We will again have a kids club with lots of prizes and fun for the kids, making South Sound Speedway a family friendly place for all.

South Sound will host 8 track classes this season. The Super Late Models which are among the fastest cars in the NW, Top Notch Trailer Late Models, D & S Light Truck and Auto Mini Stocks, Olympia Overhead Doors, Bumblebee’s, Hinkle Home Hobby Stocks, the Lexar Homes Legends Series, and the Cut Rate Auto Parts Baby Grands, and Cut Rate Auto Parts Stinger 8’s. Drivers compete for prestigious championships and track records throughout the season.

Several traveling classes will visit South Sound this year also. The WMRA midgets under new management and with a lot of enthusiasm will be returning. The Outlaw Compacts put on some great racing last year and are ready for action again. Also back are the FSCRA Super 4’s a late model style car with a 4 cylinder engine, that offer some of the best side by side racing around.

The July 4th show is always a big event full of great racing and concluded with a grand Fireworks display.

The Super Late Models will be running 100 lap main events all year with the exception of the Miller 200 on August 4th. The Miller 200 features the NW best Late Model drivers from different series.

The Big Rigs are always a fan favorite and for good reason. These 1000 horse power diesel burning trucks race 2 and even 3 wide, if you haven’t seen them before July 18th is a must for your calendar.
